Eschatology is about time
It have been a long time since I posted something her at my english blog, actually 4 1/2 month since last time. Despite of my lack of posting, both here and on my Norwegian blog, it have come some comments on some of my post. Those post have obvious interested some people more than other post.
One of the post I wrote a while back ago, regarding the Bride and the New Jerusalem which is a part of the blog-series I have about Revelation of John. Not unexpected and very pleasant, there have been questions about these things. It is not entirely unexpected comments from close friends who are “millennial-believers” (dispensationism) and who wish me back to the prokrust-bed. What I have to say is that I’m finished customizing the Scripture and the prophecies to my size of bed, but I think it might be helpful to write a bit more regarding the Bride, the New Jerusalem and New Heaven and New Earth. It may help both, me and you.
Many calories has been eaten and burn since I last posted a post here, but I haven’t disappear totally. The reason for the long time is time… more specific lack of time. I have been in Norway and many other stuff have been going around, but I’m here.
We have went through 11 parts of the series of Revelation of John and are now come to an end. Since I like a series of 12 part better than 11, I want to end the series nicely with a summary, so lets start.
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. (Mat. 24:32-36).
The fig tree has been a strong image of Israel that many people believe that this parable in Mat. 24:32-36 is a prophecy of the restoration of Israel as a nation in 1948. In my opinion this is a total distortion of what Jesus is trying to tell the disciples, who had already asked Jesus couple of questions, which He now answer. I could have written much about Israel as a nation today, but it will maybe come partly in other posts. …Go on and read more about the parable!

It has been several days since I last blogged, but this is probably the way in a active Christian life, even if it does not mean to run down venue doors. Christian life is so much more than that.
I had plans to write about the parable of the fig tree in this post, but I saw that verse 31 of Matthew 24 was slightly a bigger topic than I expected, so I will take verse 31 alone here in this post.
In my previous blog posts, you can read how Jesus presented the events that happen before and which led to the destruction of Jerusalem, in Matthew 24. You’ve also been reading historical writings that this events actually happened in the days immediately before the year AD 70.
We will now turn to verse 31 in Matthew 24, which speaks of the event’s actual coming and its immediate consequence: the beginning of the universal salvation.
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: (Matt.24:31)
Thoughtful Jesus. He knew what would happen to Jerusalem.
So far, the time of Jesus’ explanation was something like this: • The disciples seek an answer to when these things will happen (Matthew 24:3). • Jesus warns them that “none must seduce” them when these things will happen (Matthew 24 :4-5). • He says that the early signs means “the end is not yet” (Matthew 24:6). • He declares that the early signs are “just the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:8). • He declares that “for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened” (Matthew 24:22). Now we will look at the “end” in verses 29 and 30, first verse 29.
