“And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.” (Rev. 16:17-21).
Under God’s wrath in the seventh bowl of Revelation. 16, which continues to unfold the events of the year 70, we are witnessed an even more dramatic evidence of the first century fulfillment. There are two characteristics that appear here. One is that the city is divided into three and the other one is the big hail that fell from the sky.
…and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. (Rev. 6:14).
In this post I want to write about some of the events in the judgment and the meaning of it. I can’t cover every seal, bowl or trumpet because of space and I still not have everything clear of every single verse of them. But the links between the historical facts and Revelation are many, and I take only a few of these. Because of I want to show the historical facts, it will be some excerpts from our friend and historian Josephus, and there again a long post, so I had to divide it into two blog posts.
In these series, I have several times mention that Israel’s rejection of their Messiah and the persecution of the saints would result in a major disaster, which is now happening. This is what the prophesy of John in Revelation is about. A divine judgment on Israel, where the destruction is over the people, land, and Temple. God literally tearing away the temple from the historic scene by using the Roman army, which he prophetically calls “his army” (Matthew 22:7).
“And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.” (Rev. 11:8).
I flinched, it was like some thrown a bucket of ice water over me and I froze. I looked down in the Bible and read the verse again … «Yes, it is actually there,» I said to myself. I turn the pages frantically until I find a confirmation. «Yes, there it says …» “And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” The Holly Spirit shaken me vigorously and it was as if you had thrown rocks at the kitchen window and freezes when the window shatters and you realize you’ve done something wrong.
Previous post was about the many thoughts that have accumulated after walking trough history and the Bible by the seams, and what is left with the question after all the doomsday prophecy that swirl around and has never been fulfilled. The churches that can be strong in these prophecies is often the churches that have the strongest ties and interest of being Israel supporters, but I do not go into it now.
I have also said I’ll write about the Book of Revelation, which I both dread and look forward to. Ironically enough, the most difficult book of the Bible is called “Revelation”.
It can be difficult to understand the Book of Revelation, but if you enter the book with the right mind without already embedded obstacles and sharp curves that old learning tends to do, things can get a bit simpler.
“Men like the opinions that they have been accustomed from their youth, they defend them, and shuns the opposite views, and this is one of the things that prevent men from finding the truth, for they cling to the opinion of the habit.”

It has been several days since I last blogged, but this is probably the way in a active Christian life, even if it does not mean to run down venue doors. Christian life is so much more than that.
I had plans to write about the parable of the fig tree in this post, but I saw that verse 31 of Matthew 24 was slightly a bigger topic than I expected, so I will take verse 31 alone here in this post.
In my previous blog posts, you can read how Jesus presented the events that happen before and which led to the destruction of Jerusalem, in Matthew 24. You’ve also been reading historical writings that this events actually happened in the days immediately before the year AD 70.
We will now turn to verse 31 in Matthew 24, which speaks of the event’s actual coming and its immediate consequence: the beginning of the universal salvation.
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: (Matt.24:31)
I have in the previous records just pointed out some problems with the dispensationism, or the theology of the Lord’s coming is just around the corner and will retrieve the saved, and the unsaved will be left behind for a while in a thousand years, and then establish the millennial. I lack just to explain my view and I will try as best I can to come to this in my further posts.
In “The Timeframe in Matthew 24” you did see the time frame of Jesus’ prophecy, and the judgment of Jerusalem, but I made a big jump all the way to Mat. 24:34 and did not bring the warnings that Jesus gave to his disciples and those things that happens in the tribulation (Matthew 24:4 – 33). I’ll fix it now and make some posts about it.
